Inovo expands into flood modelling services with IPORT
Inovo’s wide range of services took a step further with the inclusion of flood modelling for Stage 13 of the IPORT Business Park – a $500M, 122-hectare development in Rolleston, on the outskirts of Christchurch.
Inovo was engaged by the developer to provide a full package of services from our land development team including surveying, resource management planning and engineering services to take this development through a plan change and subsequently subdivision consent and construction.
It was highlighted during the plan change process that flood modelling was required for the site to ensure that flood hazard within the 1:500 year event would not pose a high risk to buildings within the development. Inovo Projects invested significantly in expanding our capability within the land development team with software to allow flood modelling to be undertaken in house, saving a significant amount of time and cost for the client in having synergy between design changes and flood model updates.
Earthworks have commenced for the 27 hectares Stage 13 of the Business Park, with civil works on the site to get underway shortly. Inovo Projects has managed all design, consenting, tendering and construction management for IPort Stage 13, with construction anticipated to be completed by April 2024.
IPort’s location just 28 kilometres from Christchurch’s CBD is a major asset for exporters and importers.
It is strategically positioned at the intersection of the South Island’s major freight arteries – the South Island Main Trunk Railway Line, the Midland Railway Line, State Highway 1, and Christchurch’s new Southern Motorway which opened in 2020. These arteries provide easy access to Lyttelton Port and Christchurch Airport – the major freight links into and out of the region.
