Where Inovo began

We acknowledge our founders – Rob Morris, soon joined by Peter McAuley and Dave Lang .

All three were well-regarded professionals in their own right. Rob Morris in property development and the construction industry in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.  Rob ran his company Promanagement for 10 years before Inovo evolved.

Peter McAuley was a Director of a successful planning, land and property development company.

Dave Lang was a well-respected project planner with a number of large and complex projects under his belt.

With a shared vision for what the company could be, Inovo started as Davis Ogilvie Projects in early 2010, before changing to Inovo.

Celebrating Moments in time

Canterbury Engineering the Future site 2015. As part of a joint venture, Inovo managed the $150m redevelopment of University of Canterbury’s existing Engineering Precinct. The project encompassed the staged refurbishment, demolition, new build and extension of approximately 30,000m2 including lecture theatres, teaching spaces, wet and dry laboratories, administration, offices, amenities and student spaces.
The flagship of Ara’s Campus Master Plan, the three-storey, 6,500m² Kahukura Engineering and Architecture School, received a Gold Award in the Education category at the 2018 Commercial Property Awards, and was the Best in Category/Excellence Award winner at the 2018 Property Council Industry Awards. Inovo’s project management team were involved right from project initiation.
Inovo worked with Leigh’s Construction on the construction programme for the new Christchurch Hospital Outpatients Building. The five-storey, 10,500m2 building needed to combine offices and medical services for a range of outpatient requirements, and offer clinical areas, sterile facilities, meeting and work rooms, and a plant room. This image is from 2016 with the project completed in 2019.
At the prestigious Property Council Awards in 2024 Inovo was honoured with two Excellence Awards - in different categories and set in two diversely different environments. FLOCKHILL Homestead won in the Tourism and Leisure category, while Te Mātāwai (Greys Ave) a multibuilding, multi-unit urban apartment complex won in the Community and Affordable Housing category.
Beachside Sumner, a luxury apartment complex on Sumner’s waterfront, continues to evolve today. Our roles include Independent Certifier and Contract Administrator, civil engineering, surveying, and advisory services throughout the entire project.
Skellerup’s manufacturing facility, dubbed Project Viking, during the planning and construction phases in 2017. The massive 18,900m2, $25M project was designed to optimise Skellerup’s production needs and won the Supreme Commercial Project of the Year in 2018.
The iconic curved walls of Te Pae, Christchurch’s Convention Centre, begin to take shape in 2018. A 45 metre long, 50-tonne steel truss is slotted into place within millimetres, in large part due to the surveying set-out work provided by Inovo.
Inovo’s Managing Director, Rob Morris signed the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter on 31 August 2015. The Charter’s aim was to create a unified front on health and safety across the Canterbury 2010 and 2011 earthquakes rebuild.
Working with Inovo over the past 5 years and over $90m of delivered projects has been an absolute pleasure. Their approach to value engineering within our projects exceeded our expectations. They not only delivered innovative solutions but ensured cost efficiency without compromising quality. I highly recommend their services for anyone seeking knowledgeable professionals that work with you for the optimum outcome.

In November, the Auckland team spent an afternoon and evening at Ronald McDonald House, creating a whānau dinner that is an important part of the RMH support service.

For every dollar that a team member donated to KidsCan, Inovo matched it. These donations help tamariki experiencing hardship by providing food, jackets, shoes and health products to schools across New Zealand.

We’re supporting Habitat for Humanity with strategic advisory services - free of charge. One of our most experienced team members is providing potential site assessments, helping with purchase negotiations and design for their Progressive Home Ownership rent-to-buy programmme.
