Auckland Surf Park
Project Planning
Project Strategy

Opening in Dairy Flat in late 2027, New Zealand's first surf park will provide world-class sport, recreation, hospitality and tourism amenities that celebrate Aotearoa, its surfing heritage and culture, and the area's rural character. The sustainable surf park includes a co-located Spark New Zealand data centre and 7-hectare solar farm, with excess heat from the data centre harnessed to warm the surfing lagoon year-round.
At the heart of the community will be a 56-module Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon, offering perfect waves, tailored coaching and unique experiences for all abilities in a safe, controlled environment. Thoughtfully designed to reflect the character of Dairy Flat, the project will also feature high-performance sports facilities, eco-cabins and lodging accommodation, a farm-to-table restaurant and community amenities.
In a world first, the heat generated by an on-site Spark data centre will warm the water of the lagoon – delivering optimal surfing conditions all year round. To create a sustainable virtuous circle, a 7-hectare solar farm (also located on-site) will provide renewable energy for the Spark data centre.
Ground improvements are now underway for this remarkable project, which is expected to open to the public in late 2027.
The Inovo team have been proud to partner with the surf park, providing development management and project planning for all aspects of the project.
